Paul Atreides

The prophesied Kwisatz Haderach who became Emperor of the Known Universe.

Also known as Muad'Dib, Usul, Lisan al-Gaib, Kwisatz Haderach.

Paul was the son of Duke Leto Atreides and Lady Jessica, who trained him in secret in the Bene Gesserit arts. On the surface he was a Great House heir. Underneath, he was a boy drilled in Mentat logic, sword work, and the Sisterhood's harsh mental discipline. House Atreides fell within weeks of taking Arrakis. The Harkonnens and Sardaukar struck together, and Paul and his mother fled into the deep desert. The Fremen took them in. Skill, prescience, and a prophecy planted generations before his birth carried him up through their ranks until he led them as Muad'Dib. He took Arrakeen, broke Emperor Shaddam IV, and claimed the Golden Lion Throne. But the jihad fought in his name spread across the galaxy and swallowed billions of lives. He saw the slaughter coming and could never quite stop it. He was the Kwisatz Haderach the Bene Gesserit had bred toward for generations. He was the first mind able to hold both male and female ancestral memory, and to see further than any prescient being before him. That gift made him the most powerful man in the Imperium. It made him its prisoner too. In the end he chose the desert and exile over ruling as the mask for a faith that had slipped from his hands.
