Elrood IX
Shaddam's father and predecessor on the Golden Lion Throne.
Elrood IX held the Golden Lion Throne before Shaddam IV, and the Imperial records have a great deal more to say about the office than about the man. He ruled from Kaitain over a Landsraad long since settled into the assumption of Corrino permanence, on a throne his line had kept for something close to ten thousand years. His son succeeded him as the eighty-first Padishah Emperor of that line, and turned out to be the last of it. What Elrood himself was like comes down mostly as an absence. That is its own comment on how the Imperium kept its histories: the Emperors who held the throne got a line in the almanak, and only the one who lost it got explained at length.
