Golden Lion Throne

The Padishah Emperor's throne, seat of Corrino rule for ten thousand years.

The Golden Lion Throne sat within Kaitain's most opulent hall. For ten thousand years it stood as the single most recognized symbol of authority across the Known Universe. Its name was shorthand throughout the Imperium for the Corrino dynasty's claim to rule. Every Padishah Emperor from the earliest post-Jihad days down to Shaddam IV held court from this seat. Its grandeur reinforced an idea Corrino rulers wanted believed: that their reign was as permanent and unshakeable as the gold beneath them. Paul Atreides defeated Shaddam IV and claimed the throne as the spoils of that victory. He took on a title carrying ten millennia of unbroken succession, and his own reign would come to center on Arrakis and Onn nearly as much as on Kaitain. The throne outlasted the dynasty that built it. It remained a touchstone of Imperial legitimacy long after House Corrino lost its grip on power.
